Jake Posts Cover of The Devil Went Down to Georgia
Jake Clayton recently went into the studio with his touring band to lay down his version of the classic Fiddle song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". Recorded at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin, TN, Jake's cover of the song not only adds some modern aggression to the track, but it also pays tribute to the 'fiddle legend' that made the song famous, Charlie Daniels. Jake also puts a little 'twist' on the devil section of the song by adding in a riff from the iconic metal band, Slayer! How did Jake end up doing a metal infused version of this song? Well, Jake has a 'behind the scenes' video coming that tells the story of how this version came to be. For now, check out Jake's cover in this YouTube lyric video:

Jake Clayton on #1 Song & Chart Topping Album
Jake Clayton can now be heard on the current #1 single on Country Music Radio, Thompson Square's "If I Didn't Have You". Jake played Cello and Violin on the track that was produced by NV and recorded at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville. As of April 30th, the song is #1 on both the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart and the Country Aircheck/ USA Today chart, powered by Mediabase. The duo, Thompson Square, was also recently awarded as the ACM's 'Vocal Duo of the Year' for the second year in a row.
Jake had this to say about his involvement in the recording:
"It all happened so quick. I was pushing a cart full of groceries when I got the call asking if I could come down to Sound Stage Studios with my Violin and Cello. I was told that Thompson Square needed a string section on one of their tracks ASAP! Without missing a beat I pushed the cart aside (sorry Kroger), drove home, threw the instruments in the car, and headed to the studio as quick as I could. Within an hour at the studio we had the string section recorded. As I was packing up, they informed me the song I'd just played on was going to be the new single. A few short months later I'm hearing myself on a #1 Country Music song. It's an amazing feeling! I'm honored to have been asked to play on the recording."
Thompson Square acknowledged Jake on his twitter page with the following tweet:
"@thompsonsquare: jake you did an awesome job! Thanks for playing on our record!;) shawna"
Jake Clayton's name also appears in the duo's latest release, "Just Feels Good",
available in stores everywhere!

I appreciate all the support everyone in that area has given me through the years and I hope to continuously bring back more unique shows for them in the future". Jake Clayton Recording Debut Album
Multi-instrumentalist, Jake Clayton, has entered the studio to begin production on his debut CD release. The currently untitled release will be a collection of all original instrumentals performed solely by Jake as he employs multiple instruments including the Fiddle, Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin, Dobro, Lap Steel, Pedal Steel, and more! Jake will actually play all of the instruments on the entire CD except for the drums. The drum tracks will be performed by Troy Luccketta, who is best known as the drummer for the multi-platinum selling rock band, 'Tesla'. Also performing drum tracks will be Jack Gavin, who is best known for his work with Tanya Tucker, Tracy Lawrence, and the Charlie Daniels Band. Jake says the CD will be a collection of songs with influences ranging from country and bluegrass to rock, with a few surprise influences mixed in.
"I like to play many different instruments, and that's something I rarely get to do on stage or in the studio. Now, I'm creating that opportunity through my own music. With this first CD, I focused on writing music that I enjoy playing, and music that incorporates the variety of instruments that I play. I want it to be fun and uptempo, but also not too complicated to listen to. Although the songs are geared towards the country music fan-base, I also wanted to create an album that anyone could listen to and hear something they like. I think this album will be a reflection of how I see the music world, one big melting pot of sound."
Production for the CD began on Sept 23rd at TML Studios in Nashville, TN. Producing the CD will be Jake's co-writer, Rob Daniels, who will also be playing guitar on 2 songs. The CD is scheduled for release in January 2011 and Jake plans to spend that year promoting the CD through live performances with his band. This first release will also be the beginning of a series of instrumental CDs that are planned for the future.
